The Professional Association of Mediators in Bulgaria is the first training institution accredited by the Ministry of Justice that fulfills the set standards of training for mediators. The organization has certified above 600 mediators and continues to do so through rigorous trainings each year.

The Union of Jurists in Bulgaria is an association, one of the primary aims of which is the training and accreditation of mediators. The Association further organizes different initiatives with the mission of promoting mediation as a cost-effective and accessible means of dispute resolution.

There is a widely used Mediation Centre to the Court of Arbitration at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“BCCI”). The Mediation Centre facilitates dispute settlement through mediation, promotes mediation as an efficient dispute resolution mechanism and organizes mediation trainings and seminars.

The Union of Bulgarian Business (“BIA”) facilitates the dialogue between business representatives and participants in the legislative process. BIA actively promotes mediation in labour disputes (e.g. the value of agreeing through mediation on means of collecting overdue payments between companies, etc.)

The Center is operating through the volunteer work of mediators and judges who are organized in a Committee divided in two Subcommittees – Quality Assurance and Publicity. The Regional Court of Sofia provides one full paid court employee to coordinate the operation of the Center, an office for the coordinator, and two mediation rooms. Interns assist the coordinator, the Committee, and the Subcommittees.

A Centre for Mediation to the Varna District Court has been established in September 2016 with the aim of offering dispute resolution through mediation and promoting mediation amongst the local community.

Тhe Mediation center adjacent to Bourgas District and Regional Court is newly opened and started its operations in early 2017. Yet, the center already supports the local community in providing free of charge court-annexed mediation services.
